Here comes a barberry that is colorful, care-free and not overtaking the entire garden! Choose from Sunjoy Neo, Sunjoy Mini Maroon®, or Sunjoy Citrus for a low-maintenance, deer-resistant addition to your landscape!

Sunjoy Mini Maroon® puts out sumptuously deep purple-red foliage on this dense, nicely mounded shrub. It does all this without being a nuisance and self-seeding therefore spreading uncontrollably all over the landscape. What a great development in a barberry! No one wants to rip out the thorny undertakings of spreading barberry in the garden. No more with the Sunjoy Series of barberries!

Sunjoy Neo produces intensely bright orange foliage that completely sets it apart from its counterparts! The leaves emerge each spring in bright orange and slowly mature by fall to deep orange red, with bright green at the center. It's dwarf in size and can easily be tucked into small spaces, but it will definitely be noticed and quite surprisingly be your garden showstopper! Part of the Sunjoy series, it will bask in the full sun and glow all summer long! It makes a nice edging or low hedge and it requires no pruning or extra maintenance. It's more disease resistant than its friends!

Sunjoy Citrus Barberry is bright and cheery with its golden foliage, but it also has a neat and uniformly ball-shaped habit, making it a great shrub. It was developed for the full sun and it will show off its golden hues without the threat of burning. It is not fussy with soil type, highly adaptable and requires minimal pruning. Only prune to shape it if desired. It performs consistently better in full sun than other yellow barberries. It is easy to grow, carefree, and heat tolerant.

Care Instructions

Water:  Water your plants immediately after taking them out of the box. Give them enough water, so the soil appears damp, and water trickles out the bottom of the pot.

Plants look Dry, or Foliage appears Lackluster: If plants arrive dry, it is often because the roots have outgrown the small shipping pots and need more room to grow; roots tend to dry out quickly in small containers. The foliage may look lackluster when this happens, but the rootstock is still healthy and alive.

To plump your plants back up, water them and wait 5 minutes and then water them again. Keep these plants well-watered until you can replant them into larger containers or in the garden within the next week. Remove any yellow or brown foliage. If much of the plant's foliage has yellowed, you can cut the foliage back to just above the soil line. This will allow your plant to restart, encouraging bushier, thicker growth.

Time to Plant!  Your plants are now ready to be replanted. Follow the planting guide inside for detailed instructions on how to plant your new plants most effectively.

First-Year Maintenance: The first year or two will require additional maintenance for perennials. During the first season of growth, even if the plant is known to be drought-tolerant, it is very important to water your plants on a regular basis, meaning up to 3-4 times per week. If you are experiencing severe heat or drought-like conditions, or your plants appear consistently droopy, you may need to water your plants almost every day
